Competition between Idols in Asia finally starts. First time ever, RCTI and FremantleMedia held a singing competition between India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippine, Singapore, and Vietnam. It’s an honor for Indonesia and RCTI as host broadcaster to be given such responsibility.
Hall D of Pekan Raya Jakarta would be the right place to carry out such big event. The seating capacity is enough to hold around 5000 spectators. Of course the place would be crowded with many individuals from differing countries. Not only Indonesians, the other contestants of Asian Idol have many supporters that already planned to watch them sing at this spectacular show.
Up until the Performance Show, the contestants have stayed at Jakarta for almost a week and have experienced many interesting and new things. Like when they met the President and wife at Cikeas. President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said, “Welcome to Jakarta. I support the program and will continue to monitor the progress. Winning or losing is not important because you are all winners when you sing with your heart. I hope you all can be united with one language of music.”
The biggest show of this year brought different impression to all contestants. Mike is really happy to be given the chance to sing on the same stage with the other contestants. Jaclyn feels that Asian Idol is the chance to enhance her competition spirit and her ability in singing.
Daniel Hartono, the Project Director of Asian Idol said, “This is the biggest show we do at the end of 2007. All required preparations have been made. We’ll work with staffs that had worked for Australian Idol, Canadian Idol, and World Idol too. We don’t want to do it halfway.”
Asian Idol Performance Show involves many international elements in it. The unity between Asian with staffs from other countries made this show the biggest music event in Asia. Six contestants from six countries will perform and collaborate to wait for comments from judges from six countries too, Pilita Corrales (Philippine Idol’s judge), Ken Lim (Singapore Idol’s judge), Paul Moss (Malaysian Idol’s judge), Siu Black (Vietnam Idol’s judge), Anu Malik (Indian Idol’s judge), and Indra Lesmana (Indonesian Idol’s judge).
Collaboration of host is going to happen in this show too. It’s the duet of Ata and Daniel Mananta with Jien, the host of Malaysian Idol.
The voting system was done seriously by an independent institute that does not partially support any country. With one SMS, voters are expected to choose two different countries.
Asian Idol Extra will be aired from November 24, 2007 to December 14, 2007, Monday to Friday on 4.30 to 5 PM. On this show, all information about rehearsal schedule, their struggles, dreams and hopes, are there for viewers to watch. Asian Idol is an international show that is really worth the wait.
